We use a homemade cloth bag for our bread. I stitched the letters onto a piece of cloth cut from a hand me down shirt. A plastic bread bag served as the pattern to sew up the rectangle. There have been some really nice cloth bread bags on two of my favorite blogs recently. See them here and here. This is a very easy and good idea. It makes me happy to handle this bag. Before our bag was put into use, I was using a reused plastic bread bag with a wrinkled wax paper layer around the bread. This is better. -Polly
Hello. Thanks for visiting us. We are a small family living on a small bit of land in a small New England city. We are daily taking steps forwards and back in our efforts to be as self sufficient as we can. This is our logbook of sucessess and failures, tutorials and how not tos.
This blog is mostly about trying to be self sufficient in the city. Also it is about learning to live with the way things are. We often think about moving to the country to live a simpler life. We have many good reasons though to stay where we are and live simply in the city. We are not experts, but we have been working on our sustainable lifestyle for many years now. Changing plans as we need to, being thankful, and making the best of it. That is what this blog is really about.
Familiar fabric? Nice use.
